The united states government has three branches. These branches are the Judiciary, Legislative and Executive. They were formed in order to balance power in the federal government. The purpose of this classification is to identify their functions.

          The Judiciary branch is the branch responsible for interpreting the law according to the constitution. The Supreme Court of the United States is a part of the judiciary branch. This court is the highest of all courts in the states. This branch can decide if a law is constitutional or unconstitutional. This decision is what is known as Judicial review. 

          The Executive branch is the second branch of government. The president and the Cabinet is a part of this branch. Their function is to enforce the laws. They oversee day-to-day activities within government. This process is called Oversight. The president is the most important official in this branch. A lot of power is vested in him but not all. 

          The Legislative branch is the third branch of government. This branch includes the Senate and the House of Representatives. These two houses are responsible for making the laws. They go through a process in order to get laws passed. This operation was forged many years ago along with the constitution. 

          The federal government is made of three branches. The Judiciary, the legislative and executive branches. They each have specific functions in government. The Judiciary branch is responsible for interpreting laws. The Executive branch enforces the laws. While, the legislative branch makes the laws.
